Come on down to the first annual Carrington Folk Festival, featuring a fantastic folked up lineup of renowned artists to activate the Carrington community. It'll be a jam-packed day of live music, skilled musicianship, some free range bluegrass and maybe even a workshop or two! Lineup includes Midnight Chicken, The Crooked Fiddle Band, Damian Wright, and Luke William Wright with more music and fun to be announced! Get in on the Early Bird tickets while you can!

Breakfast Meet Up at Cafe Inu
Carrington's Cafe Inu welcomes all folk fans, musicians and jammers to come play and have a coffee or a bite to eat on Saturday morning between 9am and 1pm.
Ukulele Experience at Carrington Bowling Club
From 10-12, join us for a group session of Ukastle Ukestra (ukulele) practice. It’s free to watch or $20 to participate. What a great start to the festival!

Dance on Newy is a local dance group and instructional team with more than a combined 70 years of experience in teaching Cuban salsa, Tango and Bachata. Their team takes a fun and informative approach to dance, recognising that dancing means many things to many people - culture, friendships, or simply a creative outlet.
2:00 Singing Workshop with Christopher Sutherland
Petrichor is a platform of curious exploration and musical connection. We will sing, play around, and discover the magic of being alive, making music together. No experience is needed. We will learn everything on the way. Christopher Sutherland is a composer and multi-instrumentalist performer with a wide range of experience in many styles of music. He creates dreamy folk and ethereal electronic music as Abhaya Sky.3:15 STEEL CITY SUE
Steel City Sue is a Newcastle songwriter and trad fiddle player bringing her own brand of ragtime industrial folk. Think Billy Bragg meets Kirsty McColl on a backroad in Virginia.

Luke William Wright is an Australian musician who plays Mandocello - the larger member of the Mandolin Family of Instruments. He has recorded and toured Australia as well as being featured at some of the countries premier music festivals. He is a member of contemporary folk/bluegrass duo Charlie & Jensen, who have released two albums and have been twice nominated for a Golden Guitar award.

Known as a serial genre blender, Mia’s unconventional writing style creates listening environments that are both heart-hitting and deeply refreshing. Supported by a powerhouse of local musicians, this outfit blends visceral textures and thick harmony to weave a strikingly diverse musical tapestry.After a year-long hiatus, Mia and her band are back fresher than ever, serving up a blend of well-loved tracks and captivating new compositions.

Damian is an ARIA nominated Flamenco guitarist. Damian recently released his debut album “Shifting Sands” (ABC Music) which was The Sydney Morning Heralds ‘Album of the week’ where it was described as “Glorious guitar playing”. Damian’s ensemble BANDALUZIA was recently awarded "The Pick Of the Sydney Fringe" at The Sydney Fringe Festival and performed to a sold-out Sydney Opera House

Hatched and hand raised in Newcastle NSW, Midnight Chicken are quickly becoming a hot topic in the bluegrass and country circuits around Australia. Their bizarre take on bluegrass music gives birth to amazing renditions of traditional tunes and old classics as well as more modern tunes that are sure to be enjoyed by everyone.
Formed in 2006 in Sydney Australia, The Crooked Fiddle Band mix blasts of fiery folk with the intense atmosphere and detail of post- and prog-rock, resulting in a multi-layered, complex and ecstatic hybrid they call 'chainsaw folk'.
